The Infection Control Department (ICD) of Al Razi Healthcare has been developed to protect patients, health care workers and environment against infections. The keys to successful infection control management are identifying hazards and classifying the associated risks for maintaining a safe and healthy environment. It requires an altruistic cooperation between management and healthcare workers. Infection Control Department is implementing international standards to control infections efficiently and professionally.

The aim of ICD is to support the organizational mission of patient care and continued education of society to promote patient safety by reducing the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections. We are striving hard to become a reference in the health care industry in infection control measures.

Our department is deploying components of infection control and prevention by applying proper hand-hygiene measures, maintaining a clean environment, use of barriers where appropriate and identification of a patient or an employee at risk with in all our centres like, Clinical Laboratories, Diagnostic Imaging Centre, TRWC & Family Health Centre.

ICD provides information, tools, and resources to prevent and to treat healthcare associated infections. It focuses on the following indicators to prevent healthcare associated infections:

Inside all centers biohazardous material is properly managed by maintaining BSL2 and BSL3 where required. For the first time in the region BSL3 TB lab is equipped with innovative double door autoclave for proper disposal of infectious material.
